The U.S. Navy's Chris Conowal and Timothy Suhr hail from small towns in Georgia and Ohio, respectively. They sought out military careers as a way to challenge their minds and travel the world. Their adventures have taken them from Hawaii to Hong Kong and from Virginia Beach to the Virgin Islands; in addition, both men have received a valuable education that served as a worthy alternative to college. Suhr points out that life on an aircraft carrier is not unlike a ΓÇ£normalΓÇ¥ existence. The shipΓÇÖs library provides access to free movies and videogames; Internet service also is enjoyed by the sailors. His companion Conowal, who was stationed in Hawaii for about five years, says ΓÇ£every day is a new day,ΓÇ¥ when youΓÇÖre in the Navy; thereΓÇÖs no chance to get tired of a job routine, he adds, because heΓÇÖs constantly learning something new.
